Palliative Care (End of life care)

At Fremantle Animal Hospital we know how important your pet is to you and that they're part of your family. As our pets age, their health can change, and in their elderly years, palliative care may be required to treat any disease or illnesses whilst keeping them as comfortable as possible.

Veterinary palliative care refers to when a decision has been made to stop attempts to cure a terminal or life-limiting illness in the pet.

Palliative care is delivered as a pet approaches the end of their life, and some common scenarios that precede palliative care include:

  • The diagnosis or progression of a life-limiting illness.
  • The decision not to pursue curative therapy.
  • The progression of disease symptoms, so that they interfere with the activities of daily living.

Our team at Fremantle Animal Hospital provide an array of palliative care services, and also including euthanasia. Please speak with our helpful team for further information about palliative care options for your pet.
